Recently, I had the opportunity to speak to a group of beautiful and amazing women at the Matters of the Heart Women’s Conference. It was held at Abundant Life Community Baptist Church on Saturday, December 5, 2015 and it was a wonderful gathering of women from all walks of life. There was lovely singing, inspirational dancing, and so many testimonies by those who had made a decision to move forward with life in spite of great pain and trauma.
I was humbled by the opportunity to speak to these delightful women. I shared stories about my own life and explained to the women that all of the things they’d experienced were a result of a life being lived; it was not their “fault”. So many women explained to me how thankful they were that I shared this truth with them. It is definitely true that so many of us walk around with pain, fear, and regret about decisions we’ve made in the past. I told the women at the conference to let it all go. I’m confident that on that day, so many of them did.
I was blown away by the expressions of praise to God and the resolve these women had. They poured out their hearts to each other and vowed to keep confidential that was shared; to avoid taking anything outside of a setting so open, yet full of such vulnerability. Everyone was unified and their intentions were sealed in prayer. It was a simply transcendent experience. In such an atmosphere of progress and potential, many women wanted to continue their journey and signed up for 30 minute discovery sessions with me to follow up. What a tremendous and humbling honor. I’m encouraged to meet with them in the coming year and to assist them on their path to self-discovery and renewed strength.
