It’s time. This is the time of year that we take a close look at our lives and consider the things that have occurred in the previous year. We immediately think of our weight we’ve gained and the state of our finances. We also think of the status of our relationships and what we might have done differently. We usually come up with a list of regrets and “resolve” to make things different in the coming year. Even if it’s not a formal list, this is the time of year that some of us make our New Year’s Resolutions.
Resolutions: Do They Even Matter?
If you follow social trends, you’ll see that over the years, people have decided to do away with resolutions. Many feel that they are a setup for failure because many people don’t have the discipline to keep them. Each year, they say they’re going to lose weight, but they actually gain more. They say they will end a bad relationship, but end up becoming more entrenched in the current one, or starting one that’s even more unhealthy. This could easily make one wonder, “What’s the point?”
What is a Resolution, Anyway?
As a mental health professional and life coach, I’ve had the wonderful opportunity to help people start over in life again. They “resolved” to systematically address particular issues in their lives and I facilitated their process. We discussed their opportunities for growth and improvement and we worked together to achieve their “resolutions”. That’s it.
My experience has revealed two major truths: 1.) One can make resolutions at ANY time, not just before the New Year; and 2.) Having someone to help fulfill your resolutions by offering proven expertise, guided support, and accountability, exponentially improves a person’s potential to experience real change in his or her life. We can always begin again.
I want to be instrumental in your success at any and all times of the year, but if you desire real change and progress in 2016, know that I “resolve” to make myself available to you to help YOU bring that change and progress to pass. Take a moment to sign up for a 30-minute session with me. There’s no cost associated with this session. I want to introduce myself to you and learn about who you are and how I can support you. I look forward to hearing from you and working to make 2016 the very best year of your life!
